DEVOLUTION
/in News /by ClerkDear all,
We have been asked to send on the following:
I would like to take this opportunity to speak to you about the proposed devolution deal for our region.
Devolution is something East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council have been working towards for a number of years – and we finally have a deal on the table.
This deal would lead to the creation of a Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Mayoral Authority, led by a directly elected mayor, which would bring in hundreds of millions of pounds of investment, as well as powers at a local level to help transform our region.
This means East Yorkshire will finally have a seat at the table, and we will no longer be left lagging behind other regions that are already reaping the rewards of devolution.
An eight-week consultation is under way across Hull and the East Riding to give all our residents and businesses the chance to have their say on this devolution deal.
Until 27 February, people can learn more about the devolution proposal and give their feedback by visiting eastriding.gov.uk/devolution.
Alternatively, they can complete the survey in person by visiting any East Riding library, where staff will be on hand to help.
We are also hosting drop-in and online events over the coming weeks to ensure everyone has the information they need to be able to complete the consultation.
The dates, times and locations of these events can be found at eastriding.gov.uk/devolution
For too long, Hull and the East Riding have been missing out. This is our opportunity to change all that and secure the investment, skills, infrastructure that will elevate this region into one of the best in the country.
I really hope you will take part in the consultation and encourage your communities, colleagues, customers, friends and family to do so as well.
Thank you for your support,
Councillor Anne Handley,
Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
